Trunking is used in many states by the police. Trunking was intended for keeping people like us with scanners from hearing them.Trunked systems automatically send out a signal to switch frequencies. The other radios hear the signal and automatically switch to the different frequency so none of the users notice the difference but people trying to listen on a scanner have a very hard time. Now many companies make scanners that can follow the trunked systems and listen along. |
